CRANE Nightclub where Cody Fisher was killed is permanently shutdown for.

Birmingham City Council's licensing committee revoked the club's licence after police applied for it this week. CRANE club had been suspended for the last 28 days; after a meeting in December 2022.

The West Midlands Police evaluation of CRANE is that it poses "great risks" to attendees, with "blatant" drug use and "inadequate" security measures that allowed a knife into the club.

A police report documented how the knife used in the attack on Cody Fisher was found on the dance floor of the venue along with 100's of gas canisters and drug bags containing white residue. The attack happened on Boxing day 2022 in Digbeth, Birmingham.

The police report also highlighted the lack of security checks and the inadequate CCTV system within the venue. These failings allowed dangerous weapons to be brought into the club and created a potentially hazardous environment for club goers.

Security and club staff were "oblivious" and "started cleaning up the dance floor" while CPR was still being performed on Mr Fisher.

According to Gary Grant, a barrister representing the West Midlands police, the club was snubbed because of the "inadequate search regime" that let knives in and drugs in, which resulted in "blatant" drug use that led to three people getting overdosed.

An ambulance driver described a female patient as "dribbling... and barely breathing" before she was taken to the hospital.

"This venue is facing a summary review within three months, following the murder of an individual inside." That, in itself, gives rise to the rather terrifying risks involved in the operation of this venue.

"On Boxing Day, Cody Fisher was tragically killed inside the venue and in addition, when the police investigated, they discovered what can only be described as blatant and widespread drug use being unchallenged inside the premises."

"The licence-holder, we say, failed to uphold the highest standards of management and operation of this venue,"

Another nightclub in Digbeth - said businesses in the area felt “anguish and anger” at the reputational damage Crane had caused, in particular as Digbeth is undergoing major regeneration.

Two men have been charged with murder of Cody Fisher, CRANE Night club will also remain closed for good.
